We CROSSED OCEANS TO GET HERE, a coming-to-America musical
June 7, 6:00 - 8:30 pm, Angell Blackfriars Theatre, Providence College, $50
The Manton Avenue Project announces its 2010 Gala event, “WE CROSSED OCEANS TO GET HERE, a coming-to-America musical”, which will take place onstage at the Angell Blackfriars Theater in the Smith Center for the Arts on the campus of Providence College. Beginning with a 6:00 PM cocktail hour, the evening will include a performance of four short plays written by celebrity guest playwrights including WPRI Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca, Festival Ballet Providence Artistic Director, Mihailo Djuric, and RI State Senator Paul Jabour and four plays written by MAP Kids. The performance will be followed by refreshments, dessert and a chance to talk with the actors and playwrights. Set onboard a ship approaching the shores of New York City in 1892, each of the short three to five minute plays will tell the story of a group of immigrants coming to their new home in America. The plays will feature volunteer performances by some of Rhode Island's best-known actors. Call 401-331-7007 or click here for more information.
